Easy Loot (General Knoxx)[edit]
You'll need the General Knoxx DLC to accomplish this. Near the start of a new game, find the Fast Travel Station and select T-Bone Junction as your destination. Here, you can find valuable loot, weapons, and funds. You can visit, collect everything of value, then exit and repeat. The only problem is that the enemies in the area are virtually impossible to kill at low levels, so you'll want to avoid their spawn points. To do that, stick the safe route indicated below.
First, exit the starting building and head left, continuing past the bulletin board and then hopping onto some boxes that will allow you to reach an ammo crate. From there, run and leap to the rooftop that is now positioned behind you and open the silver chest and lockers in a fenced area. Exit the cul-de-sac and make your way to the building located diagonally from the one where you started. Here, you can save. You should find more loot behind the building, some stairs to descend, and a catwalk to cross. Gather whatever you like and then leave.

Easy 'What a party!' Achievement/Trophy[edit]
This can be incredibly stressful if you don't know how to directly go about it. There may be other strategies, but the easiest that I came across is to fight MINAC and when he appears, hide behind the rocks near the van.
Behind the van is a save point and a shed. Standing in the shed facing out, turn immediately right. You will notice a silver crate with weapons inside it, and next to this, there are two rocks with a thin passage in between. MINAC will come near you and start to shoot, though just destroy the one and only turret he attacks you with. Afterward, you can sit there and MINAC will not shoot at you, nor can its robots reach you.
Come back a few hours later and collect the many parts strewn about the area. Run out and collect what you can, then rehide if you must. You only need three panties, five fish in a bag, and 15 pizzas to unlock this achievement/trophy.

Easy 'Destroyed the Destroyer' Achievement/Trophy[edit]
An easy way to defeat the Destroyer on the second playthrough is to obtain the level 48 MIRV explosives and toss them into the Destroyer's mouth. The grenades continuously explode, and once they finally relinquish, the Destroyer will only have half of a life bar. After that, it's smooth sailing using a Double Anarchy weapon or any other strong weapon or Class Mod.

Sucker Born Every Minute Achievement/Trophy[edit]
The description for the Sucker Born Every Minute Achievement/Trophy says 'Paid for a worthless tour of the world's largest bullet.' Go go the huge bullet and there should be a building closest to the bullet. There will be arrows pointing to a box with a $ sign on it. Simply activate the prompt here to get the Achievement/Trophy.
Rider Sniper Rifle[edit]
In New Haven there there are two hidden chests. When you recieve the quest to enter Trash Coast, head to New Haven. Head toward the blue shack (below the area where the repair kit is). Stand near the door and it will open. Ride the elevator down and to the basement. Defeat the Psychos and open the red chest to find the Rider. Rider is a unique sniper rifle manufactured by Gearbox, the maker of Borderlands. This weapon, along with other details in the room (a trash pile Christmas tree and a grisly leg lamp) are references to the movie 'A Christmas Story.'
Faster Firing Rate[edit]
Weapons with exceedingly slow firing rates (i.e. powerful sniper rifles) can be made less laggy if you melee after each shot. This will reset the firing rate timer, allowing you to instantly fire again.
Elemental Effects[edit]
In Borderlands some weapons have an elemental effect. These are usually very useful but there are drawbacks. Enemies might have special resistant shields or an elemental animal will naturally resist what you shoot it with. Here is a rundown of each elemental effect:
Fire - When you tag an enemy with fire they take gradual damage until they die or it goes out. Fire damages enemies more if they're shield is gone. Additionally, enemies tend to freak out and lose accuracy when burning.
Even if Carl responds negatively, the gang will chase him but this is still a chance for Carl to run away, and the Vagos will stop chasing CJ.
Shock - Shock damage is like the reverse of fire. It deals an incredible amount of damage to an enemy's shield but loses effectiveness once they're down to their health meter. Also, enemies don't usually panic when shocked.
Acid - Possibly the best all-around element. Acid damage easily eats through armored opponents (like Spiderants and Crimson Lance soldiers) and can spread to multiple enemies if they happen to touch each other while panicking. The only drawbacks to it are that Acid-type enemies are about 90% immune to it and if you try Iron-sight aiming the acid splash from your gun-muzzle can throw off your aim.
Explosive - Not so much an element as a bonus. Randomly when you shoot an enemy with a bullet from an explosion-type gun it will explode and deal extra damage relative to the weapon's base damage. Try to aim for groups.
Eridian - Whenever you find an Eridian weapon try shooting an enemy. Sometimes extra effects not mentioned in the description will occur. The 10101 Cannon is a good example of a Shock/Explosion combination element.
Quick Money and Items[edit]
Want purple and orange items without having to kill a single enemy? Once you get to 'New Haven,' head to the save/transport post near 'Scooter' and save your game. Then, there are 2 red chests and 3 silver chest in town..4 of them on rooftops, and one that the claptrap rescue opens for you. Just loot them all, keep what you want, sell what you don't want and then save your game. Log off, then log back in to repeat the process. Check all the vending machines each time as they will offer great items as well.
Here is a rundown of the loot route from at the save/transport post near Scooter:
Red Chest #1 - On the roof of the building directly right of the save post. Go to the side with the yellow barrel, jump few times and you are there.
Silver Chest #1 - From the save post, turn directly left and go up the stairs, keep going in the same direction, cross the wood plank and then jump the railing to the other building. Turn a slight right around the corner.
Red Chest #2 - from Silver Chest#1..some tricky jumps, but not too hard. Simply look out to the red tarp hanging over a little platform and make a running jump to land on the tarp. Then turn around till you see the Red Chest, make another jump (not too high or you will get caught on the red tarp over the chest and fall off).
Silver Chest #2 - After completing the Claptrap Rescue this Silver Chest will be in a little shed across the courtyard from the Bounty Board (you just have to crouch to get in there).
Silver Chest #3 - From the save post go forward and go up the stairs where the dollar sign and arrow are. Hop on top of the washing machine, then on top of the roof with the big antenna. The Silver Chest is behind it.
More Inventory Slots[edit]
Note: Alter game files at your own risk and always make backups! Go to the game folder (C:Program Files (x86)2K GamesGearbox SoftwareBorderlandsWillowGameConfig) and open DefaultGame and look for this:
InventorySlotMax_Misc=X
Change X to your desired amount of slots (default 12)
Invincibility[edit]
Note: Alter game files at your own risk and always make backups! Go to the game folder (My DocumentsMy GamesBorderlandsWillowGameConfig) and open WillowGame.ini in a text editor.
Search for bDemiGodMode and change it to bDemiGodMode=true.
Your health will never decrease below 1!.
Berserker Speed Exploit[edit]
Make sure you're in a fight with more than one enemy and your health is extremely low (10-20). Activate Berserker just before you enter Fight For Your Life! Mode, then kill someone to gain a Second Wind. If done properly, you should be able to run as fast as Brick can in Berserker mode AND you'll be able to fire your weapons. Note: you're not able to sprint while using this, but why would you need to anyway? Activating his Berserker mode again and finishing it, OR dying will cancel the effect.
New Game +[edit]
Complete the game to unlock a New Game + mode. Some items and stats will carry over into the new game and enemies will be tougher.
Duplicate Items[edit]
To make a copy of any item you'll need a cooperative partner in a multiplayer game. Simply drop what you want to make a copy of on the floor, exit the game without saving, leaving your friend free to grab it. When you return, you'll have your copy of the weapon still, and your friend can hand you the other. This works on all guns, shields, and class mods, and can be done as many times as necessary.
Easy 20,00 EXP[edit]
As soon as you are able to get a vehicle, find a safe place away from enemy spawn points and find a way to keep the trigger held down (tape? rubber band?). Just walk away for a few hours and after you have unloaded 100,000 shots from the vehicle you will get 20,000 exp.
Easy Escape After Defeating Sledge[edit]
After you've defeated Sledge (and collected the artifact), exit and save your game. When you start you're game again you'll begin at the save point at the very beginning of the mission. This way you don't have to backtrack on foot and you'll save a lot of ammo too.
Item Storage using an Alternate Character[edit]
An effective, but annoying, way to store your extra stuff is to create an alternate character that is only for holding your extra stuff. Just create a new character, load a co-op game with both your main character and your new level 1 character and give them the items you want to put up. Log back in to your level 1 character and give the items back to your main character when you need them. This can be really useful when you find weapons and items that are above your level, or are saving them to give to a friend's character.
Gain Levels and Money Before Entering Borderlands[edit]
In the first scene, when you're getting the tour with the scrap robot, follow him all the way through to the small campsite with the car up on the lift next to the burning tires. Collect all the loot (guns, money) along the way and kill all of the guys. Once everyone is dead simply pause the game and go to exit. It will save your character (level & loot) and start you at the very beginning upon loading your game. You can repeat this as many times as you'd like!

Reload Quickly[edit]How To Enable Console Borderlands 2
Watch your reload animation. As soon as the cartridge is removed (or rounds are being inserted), perform a melee and the gun will finish reloading. Do this to save time and possibly your life.

Minecraft Area[edit]
Play until you reach the Caustic Caverns area. In the Minecart Madness side quest, turn right from where you find the mine cart. You should spot a stone shaped like a cube. Jump over it and land on some earth, then proceed right from there to find dirt that looks like something you might find in Minecraft. Attack it a few times and you should be able to push through, provided it is 2 blocks high. If you turn right from there, you should see some stone and coal. Those take 5 hits to break, and if you pass through them you will find some Creepers.

Full Metal Jacket References[edit]
There are multiple references to the movie Full Metal Jacket spread around the game. One of the rifle challenges is called 'This is My Rifle,' which is part of a familiar line from the movie. Also, the reanimation station will say 'You will not die unless you are told' after reviving you, which is a reference to an R. Lee Emery quote in the film.

Minecraft Easter Egg[edit]
In Caustic Caverns, around the Guardian Ruins near the end of the map, there are 'dirt blocks' (from Minecraft) around a cavern to the right and under the minecart used for 'Minecart Mischief.' After performing melee attacks on the blocks, one will encounter several creepers and a badasscreeper, which are also from Minecraft. Those enemies have a chance of dropping the 'Longbow' sniper rifle, which just so happens to shoot arrows like the ones seen in Minecraft.
Easy Leveling (You Are Cordially Invited)[edit]
The first optional Tiny Tina mission is titled 'You Are Cordially Invited' and your apparent goal is to lure a thug named Flamestick to a party where he will meet his demise. However, you can easily gain experience points by repeatedly failing the mission. Play through the mission as instructed until you are supposed to bring Flamestick to the table that Tina will have prepared. Instead of bringing him to that destination, kill him for the experience points (his death results in around 5000XP if you are at level 35 and playing on True Vault Hunter mode. Killing Flamestick will result in a failed mission, but then you can retry the mission as often as you like for more easy XP. The trick works even better if you load a second character and have them stand near Tina, constantly respawning Flamestick.

Easy Money, Eridium, and XP[edit]
If you have a commando or mechromancer character (the latter works best), you can level up your character at the end of the campaign so that you're prepared for tougher battles in the True Vault Hunter mode. Once you defeat the main campaign's boss, stay in that chamber and use your turrets to take out the Rakk enemies that regularly spawn. If you are using a mechromancer and your skill is maxed by that point, your DT duration increases after each kill. You can leave your console on and let your weapons automatically take out the enemies while you tend to other things. Otherwise, you'll need to take a more hands-on approach. This is a great way to farm experience, money, and eridium with minimal effort.

Extra Backpack Storage[edit]
You can carry more gear in your backpack than you might think, though this trick is mostly just useful early in the game. First, find a vendor and sell the items in your backpack to make room for more items. Now grab any items lying around, or purchase the vendor's wares. Once your backpack is full, you should next buy the items that you just sold, thus temporarily expanding your backpack's storage capacity beyond the usual limit.

True Vault Hunter Mode[edit]
Complete the standard Story mode and you'll unlock True Vault Hunter mode. That mode features more difficult enemies and you can earn more experience points. You can switch between difficulty settings by accessing the character selection screen, even if you only have one character.

Lyin' King[edit]
Find the large enclosure while working through the Wildlife Preserve (near the second vault symbol). There, you'll be attacked by two particular enemies: a stalker named Pimon and a skag named Tumbaa. If you kill both of them within a 10-second span, you'll access a special challenge.

Instant Reload[edit]
To quickly reload your weapon, open your equipment and inventory menu, which effectively pauses the game (if you're playing without friends). Choose the weapon you wish to reload, then switch it out for another weapon from your inventory, then switch the weapons yet again. The desired weapon now has a full clip, assuming you had the ammo for that, and you can exit the menu and get back to the action without waiting to reload. Note that this technique will not work if your character is in 'fight for your life' mode.

Extra Enemy (Splinter Group)[edit]
If you have played this optional side mission, you may have figured out that it parodies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. After you dispatch of the 4 pizza-loving mutants, you can enter their lair. If you turn all of the red lights above DAHL the gun crate to green by triggering the switches (check for switches on the floor, wall, TV, and by a valve), Flinter will emerge to attack you from an area just to the right of the lights.

Unlimited Rare Items[edit]
In Sanctuary you can find Michael Mamaril, the NPC who pays tribute to a late Borderlands fan. When you talk to him, he'll reward you with a rare item (blue or better). Save your game and quit to the menu, then load your save file and find Michael again. You can so as often as you like, then either keep the items or sell them for profit. Michael moves around Sanctuary a lot, so you may have to look for him a bit.

Infinite Eridium[edit]
In Three Horns Valley, go to the hideout where you fight the Bad Maw boss. Kill him, and pick up the Eridium he drops. Then, enter the Bloodshot Stronghold, and choose the 'Save and Quit' option. Continue the game, return to Three Horns Valley, and kill Bad Maw again to get more Eridium. Repeat this as many times as you like.

How to use these
This requires modifying game files.
This also requires you to already have access to the console. A short guide for that:
Find C:Users..DocumentsMy GamesBorderlands 2WillowGameConfigWillowInput.ini.
Find and replace 'ConsoleKey=Undefine' with 'ConsoleKey=Tilde'. Tilde key should now open the console in-game.
Now on to modding the game to make the console useful. This method was tested on the Steam, Windows version.
Tools Required:
decompress - http://www.gildor.org/down/41/umodel/decompress.zip
a hex editor - http://download.cnet.com/HxD-Hex-Editor/3000-2352_4-10891068.html
Files you should backup:
-Borderlands 2BinariesWin32Borderlands2.exe -Borderlands 2WillowGameCookedPCConsoleEngine.upk -Borderlands 2WillowGameCookedPCConsoleWillowGame.upk
Modding
Load up Borderlands 2BinariesWin32Borderlands2.exe in the hex editor. Find the strings 'engine.upk' and 'willowgame.upk'. There will only be one occurrence of each. Alter these in some way such as 'zngine.upk' and 'zillowgame.upk' and save. This will allow you to use modified versions of these packages.
Copy Engine.upk and WillowGame.upk from Borderlands 2WillowGameCookedPCConsole to the folder containing the decompress tool (decompress.exe). Rename the originals in *CookedPCConsole* to '_Engine.upk' and '_WillowGame.upk' so you can switch back to them when you want. While in the decompress folder and with no files highlighted, hold shift and right click and select 'Open command window here' from the context menu. In the command prompt, enter the command 'decompress Engine.upk' and then 'decompress WillowGame.upk'. The tool will dump the larger, decompressed packages in the Unpacked folder. Move these to *CookedPCConsole*.
Rename 'Engine.upk.uncompressed_size' to '_Engine.upk.uncompressed_size'.
Rename 'WillowGame.upk.uncompressed_size' to '_WillowGame.upk.uncompressed_size'.
Open up the now decompressed Engine.upk in the hex editor. Find and replace the hex values 1B E9 47 with 1B A5 14 (two occurances). This will patch the console so commands aren't interpreted as chat messages.
Open WillowGame.upk in the hex editor. Find and replace the hex values 58 01 04 28 with 58 01 04 27 (one occurance). This will grant you developer perks.
Notes
Modified packages will not work in multiplayer unless you are host (or if the host has matching modified files?). You can switch back to the original packages by renaming the modified ones to something else and renaming the four original files (prefixed by an underscore) back to their original names. The executable (Borderlands2.exe) can be left modified for multiplayer.
Edit: Sometimes you can join other player's games with the cheat packages. Seems hit or miss. Either way, you have to be host to use the commands.
Batch file for easy switching: (Optional)
(because renaming a bunch of files is a pain)
Paste this in Notepad and save it as ToggleCheats.bat in your CookedPCConsole folder. Remember, you only need to switch to the unmodded packages if you plan to join another player's game.
